HOW TO LOVE GOD MORE…

The biblical Word of God says: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind….” (Matthew 22:37-39). And love God more than “all that is in the world” (1 John 2:16).

LOVE GOD MORE THAN THINGS IN THE WORLD

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world” (1 JOHN 2:15-16).

Be mindful that the things of this world are temporary; but the things of God last forever (Matthew 24:35: Isaiah 5:16).

LOVE GOD MORE THAN FAMILY OR OTHERS

“Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:37).

Some love human praise more than praise from God” (John !2:43).

Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God” (James 4:4).

“If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you embrace, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods… you must not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity, and do not spare him or shield him” (Deuteronomy 13:6-8).  

Yet you should pray that they be set free from being blinded and enslaved by the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). And as God gives you opportunity, you should lovingly and gently tell them the truth about “the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom [God has] sent” to be our Savior (John 17:3; John 14:6).

LOVE GOD MORE THAN SELF
The Lord Jesus Christ says to all of us, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me” (Luke 9:23).

God’s Holy Word tells us: “ Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2).

LOVE GOD  WITH HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Lord said If you love me, keep my commandments; but he also said without me you can do nothing (John 14:15; John 15:5). if you have a true heart’s desire to love the Lord and keep the Lord’s commandments, He will give you the Holy Spirit to empower and help you do his will on earth (John 14:15-17).

“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:11). And you will live with God forever in heaven (John 14:2-3).
