HOW CAN GOD HEAL OUR LANDS?
Mass and social media are full of reports about problems that trouble the lands of people all over the world. Many people seem to wonder if or how God can heal their land. The Bible says, “all things are possible with God (Mark10:27; Jeremiah 32:17). And the biblical Word od God tells us how he heals the land of his people.
God loves and is good to all people (Psalms 145:9; John 3:16). But he is especially good to those who believe in and obey him (Galatians 6:10; Matthew 15:21-28). . And he says: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV).
GOD HEALED THE LAND OF HIS PEOPLE IN THE PAST.
God repeatedly warn his Old Testament people that he would punish them if they did not repent of their wicked way. “For whom the Lord loves He chastens” (Hebrews 12:6; Deuteronomy 8:5). However, because of their continued disobedience, he sent enemies to invade their land. Babylon took Israel into captivity. But after seventy year of captivity, God saw they had repented. Then “the Lord moved on the heart of King Cyrus of Persia” to free Israel. Although King Cyrus did not know or worship the God of Israel, the king restored them to their land. (Jeremiah 25:2-12; Ezra 1:1-11).
The Word of God says, “The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will” (Proverbs 21:1); even though the king, like Cyrus, may not know the Lord (Isaiah 45:1).
The Bible reveals that God uses the Son of God to heal all kinds of problems. It tells us, “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him” (Acts 10:38).
GOD CAN HEAL ANY OF OUR LANDS TODAY
The Bible says, the Lord “is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
One example of God’s recent dealings in a troubled land may be seen in his involvement with the “9/11” crisis in the USA. Some see his involvement as God discipling the country, and letting the people know they need to turn to him for help. After the “9/11” attack on the United States, current and former presidents met together and rallied the country in prayer. God who rules everything from his throne in heaven, evidently limited the amount of damage done to the country.
Some years later, world renown evangelist Franklin Graham recognizing the troubled moral and spiritual state of the country. He responding to God’s words in the Bible: “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:17). The evangelist began to lead rallies throughout the land, proclaiming the words of God in this Bible verse. Subsequent to having seen changes in America aligned with the Bible, Mr. Graham attributed these changes to “the God factor.” The evangelist seems convinced that God has been channeling the hearts of leaders of the country in their decisions on such things as “right to life” and “religious freedom”
RIGHT TO LIFE. In the Bible God said: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” (Jeremiah 1:5).
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM. The Bible says mankind should live by every word God (Matthew 4:4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17). The first amendment of the U.S. Constitution states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
GOD WORKS ALL THINGS TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF THOSE WHO LOVE AND OBEY HIM.
Pending the return of our lord and Savior Jesus Christ to take us to live with in heaven forever, he reminds us:
- “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
- In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:23).
- God has promised to put no more on you than you are able to bear (1 Corinthians 10:13).
- And God is working all things together for the good of those love, trust and obey him (Romans 8L28)
Ultimately the Lord God plan to take all his people to live with him in heaven forever (John 14:2-3).
