LIVING AT PEACE WITH GOD AND OTHERS
We begin to live at peace with God by believing in the atoning blood of his Son Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Romans 5:1). But God’s Word goes further to says, as much as possible live at peace with all people (Romans 12:18).
PEACE WITH OTHER BELIEVERS
If there are points of disagreement among brothers and sisters who have repented and accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, they should disagree in peace. For instant, the Bible says, one person might believe they can eat all things; while another believe they can only eat vegetables. And one person may consider one day more holy than another; while another may think of every day as being alike. We should not judge our brothers and sisters, and treat them with contempt for their having such different beliefs. We all now know in part; but when we see the Lord, we shall know completely (1 Corinthians 13:9-10). Let us therefore endeavor to do what leads to peace and to build one another up in the Lord (Romans 14:19).
PEACE WITH UNBELIEVERS
The Lord wants believers to love all people, including unbelievers, as he loves us (John 13:34).
Some unbelievers may rejects the gospel even after we try to instruct them in love and humility. However, the Word of God advises us to avoid arguments which the devil uses to cause strife among us (2 Timothy 2:23; James 3:15-16).
We cannot force a person to believe or accept the gospel. Only the Holy Spirit is able convince anyone of sin and their need to believe in Jesus Christ for salvation (John 18:8). Nevertheless, we might pray for them that perhaps God may open their eyes to their need to believe and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. (2 Timothy 2:25; John 3:16).
PEACE WITH AUTHORITIES
God’s Word instructs us to obey authorities, for he establishes authorities for our security and well-being Romans 1:1-2). The Lord also tells us to pray for them. For the Lord is able to influence them to lead in a way that allows us to live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness (1 Timothy 2:2; Proverbs 21:1).
PEACE WITH GOD AND MAN
The first part of our peace with God comes through a loving and obedient relationship with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1; John 14:5). The second part involves a Christ-like loving relationship with our others (1 John 4:20; John 13:34).
