ASKING AND RECEIVING FROM GOD
Will God give us everything that we ask for in the name of Jesus Christ (Matthew 21:22; John 14:13-14)? Asking us to think, the Bible questions if a loving parent will give their child a snake who ask for it because the child believes it is a fish, that perhaps looks like an eel? The Bible then provides us with God’s answer: Our heavenly Father gives his children only what is good for them (Luke 11:11-13). We ought to consider our all-wise heavenly Father’s loving will for us when we ask him for anything (1 John 5:14)?
ASK ACORDING TO GOD’S WILL
1 John 5:14 – If we ask anything according to God’s will, he hears and will grant our request (1 John 5:14). God’s will is seen in the overall biblical Word of God.
- The Bible says, seek the Lord with all your heart and he will clearly reveal himself and his will you (Jeremiah 29:13).
- The Lord Jesus Christ said pray in this manner: Our Father… your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:9-10).
- Seek first the kingdom of God by repenting and believing in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, and God will add other good things according to his knowledge and will (Matthew 6:33; John 3:16; Acts 2:38).
- Live by and obey every word of God (Matthew 4:4; John 14:15).
- With the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, be conformed to the likeness of Jesus Christ, who always did the will of our heavenly Father rather than his own( Luke 22:44; Roman 8:29).
ASK BELIEVING IN GOD’S LOVE
God so loved us that he gave Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, to die for our sins (John 3:16).
If God loves us enough to sacrifice his beloved Son while we were still sinners, he will surely give us all other things that are good for us ( Romans 8:32; Psalm 84:11).
RECEIVE GOD’S BEST
When we ask according to God’s will we receive his best. God’s Word tells us to trust him with all our heart and lean not unto our own understanding, and he will direct us in the path everlasting (Proverbs 3:5-6). He plans to present us, who truly love and trust in him, faultless before the presence of his glory (Jude 1:24).
God’s ways are not our ways; as the heaven is higher than the earth, so are God’s ways higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). In his love and wisdom, God gives us what will result in enhancing our eternal relationship with him.
When you ask according to God’s will, as our Lord Jesus Christ did, you will receive all the good things that God gives in this world to those who love him; and you will be given eternal life in heaven with God (Romans 8:28; Mark 10:29-30).
