ABC’s OF GOD’S WAY OF LIFE
Many of us were our ABC’s when we were children to help us deal with life and its difficulties. But not everyone learned how to handle the difficulty of sin in this world. However, the written words of God teaches us the ABC’s of how to overcome sin, and effectively live God’s way of life (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Basically, the biblical Word of God presents Jesus Christ, the Son of God as “the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).
The biblical words of God teaches us that mankind was created for the Lord God and his purpose (Colossians 1:16). However, when mankind sinned by disobeying the Lord, they departed from God’s way (Genesis 3; Romans 3:23). But we learn that God planned to bring mankind back into alignment and fellowship with him. God loved mankind so much that he planned to redeem them through their coming to know his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who would die for the sins of the world ( John 3:16).
A. COME TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOR AND LORD
The Bible says, all have sinned and come short of glorifying God (Romans 3:23); and the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ’s atoning death (Rom. 6:23). Jesus told a strict religious leader named Nicodemus that his being born of flesh made him a sinner. And that he needed to be born again of the Spirit of God, by believing in the Son, to be saved from sin and have everlasting life (John 3:1-18).
It is God’s will that all be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9). It is God’s will that all should repent of their sins, believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and be filled with the new life of the Holy Spirit (Luke 13:3; Acts2:38).
B. GROW TO BE MORE LIKE JESUS
God has purposed that all who accept Jesus should grow in being conformed to his likeness (Romans 8:29; Ephesians 4:13). To grow into the likeness of the Lord, we should learn and live by the inspired words of God (John 5:39; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Matthews 4:4;). We ought to continually commune with God in prayer, for without him can do nothing (1Thessalonians 5:17; John 15:5). And we need the help of the Spirit to become like Christ (John 14:16; 26). The Spirit of God works to makes us who are born-again into the image of Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:13).
C . TELL OTHERS ABOUT THE LORD
Jesus told his disciples to go into all the world an tell others the good news about him, that they might repent and be saved (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 1:18). The book of Acts in the Bible provides reports on the early disciples going into the world to proclaim the gospel, that people might be save through repenting and believing in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
We should apply what we know about God’s ABC’s in our own lives. And use it to teach others that they might know how to attain God’s way of life through Jesus Christ.
