WHAT IS YOUR POSITION ON SEX??
People today usually choose between traditional and nontraditional positions on sex. What is your position, and why?
NONTRADITIONAL POSITION ON SEX:
Social media says, around the 1960s/70s there was “a social movement that challenged traditional codes of behavior related to sexuality and interpersonal relational throughout the Western world”—which largely affects the rest of the world.
AI says “The 1960s/70s hippie sexual revolution promoted “free love,” thus “rejecting monogamy and traditional marriage in favor of casual, consensual relationships and communal living.” Free love is seen as “a social philosophy advocating for relationships free from state, church, or legal interference, particularly marriage laws.” This includes freedom from mores and laws which oppose abortion.
This sex revolution also led to “increased visibility of LGBTQ+ rights, and the rise of [pornography].”
TRADITIONAL POSITION ON SEX:
The Bible is customarily seen as being aligned with the traditional position on sex and morality. Positions out of line with the Bible are considered to be immoral, unrighteous or sinful (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Romans 3:23).
- BIBLE POSITION ON ADULTERY and FORNICATION
Jesus’ response to a woman caught in adultery gives us a current biblical perspective of adultery and fornication or unmarried sex:
The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4 and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?”…
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7 When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
11 “No one, sir,” she said.
“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin” (John 8:3-11).
The biblical Word of God tells us: “Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers” (Hebrews 13:4).
- BIBLE POSITION ON HOMOSEXUALITY
The Bible states that “God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27; Mark 10:6)
But the Bible says because some people rejected God, “they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and…For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done” (Romans 1:25-28).
GOD’s RESPONSES TO DIFFERENT POSITIONS
According to the Bible, if you have already chosen the Bible position, God is already blessing you (John 3:16; Roman 6:23). if anyone has not yet chosen the way of the Bible, God is still ready to bless you. For he says, “If we [repentantly] confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:8-9).
