CHECKING INTIMACY WITH GOD

People may have different levels of intimacy with God. How might the Bible help you check your level of intimacy with God?
- KNOWLEDGE OF GOD WORDS
Pharisees were very knowledgeable of the written words of God. But many of them failed to recognize and accept the Son of God as God’s Messianic Savior revealed in the scriptures (John 1:11). Some religious leaders had their own agenda (Matthew 27:18).
Many people today may go to church and read the Bible regularly, but may not truly accept the Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Jesus asked some, “why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?” Luke 6:46).. This is the verdict: Light [God’s Son] has come into the world, but [some] people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil” (John 3:19; John 8:12).
However, some others choose to have an intimate relationship with God.
.
- BEING BORN AGAIN OF GOD’S SPIRIT
Jesus told a Pharisee named Nicodemus, no one can have an intimate relationship with God unless they are born of the Spirit. For “flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit” (John 3:6). And no one comes to God the Father except by believing in and accepting the Son as their Savior and Lord (John 3:16; John 14:6).
3, BECOMING LIKE THE SON OF GOD
God wants people to accept and be conformed to the likeness of his Son Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29). And God has given loving believers the Holy Spirit to dwell in them to help them become like Jesus Christ (John 14:15-17).
The Son of God humbly submitted to the will of God the Father in order to die for the sins of mankind (Philippians 2:6-8; Hebrews 1:1-3). Jesus always did what pleased God the Father, including dying in agony on a cross for the sins of whoever believes in and obey him (John 8:29; Luke 22:42).
The Word says you should “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength;” and love others “just as [Jesus] has loved you” (Luke 10:20; John 13:34).
4 BEING WITH GOD.
God promises that everyone who accepts his Son Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord will see him face to face and will be like him (1 Corinthians 12:13) . And the Lord will present every one of his loving believers before the throne of God to love and live with God forever (Jude 24-25).
