GOD-MAN-SAVIOR
The inspired biblical Word of God reveals that he loves people enough to have come in the flesh to die to save whoever believes from their sins (2 Timothy 3:16-17; John 3:16). But our spiritual enemy persuades some people and religions (as he did Adam and Eve) to disbelieve, distort or deny the full deity and atonement of Jesus Christ, who came to save mankind from sin (Ephesian 6:12; Genesis 3). We are faced with believing the orthodox words of God or the deceptions of the devil.
Some people just reject Jesus, others may see him as “a prophet,” or “a god among many gods;” but thanks to God, a few accept him as being of the one true God of the Bible. The following are some of God words that can help avoid deceptions of the devil, especially regarding Jesus Christ as the God-incarnated Savior.
SCRIPTURES ABOUT THE DIVINITY OF JESUS CHRIST
“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. 3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high… And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him”….(Hebrews 1; Genesis 1:26; Colossians 1:16).
[Jesus] “who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,[a] 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant,[b] being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:6-12; John 10:30; 14:9).SCRIPTURES ABOUT JESUS AS THE GOD-INCARNATE SAVIOR
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Now the birth of Jesus Christ[e] took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed[f] to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. 19 And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet” (Matthew 1:18-22).
LIVING AND SHARING ABOUT THE GOD-MAN SAVIOR
Jesus told his disciple to go into all the world and preach the true and saving gospel about him (Mark 16:15-16).
Peter, the disciple of Jesus, advises believers to be ready to give everyone the reason for your belief in Christ, “yet do it with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15).
The Word of God tells believers to pray for “all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the [God] man[a] Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time” (1 Timothy 2:1-6).
The disciples worshipped Jesus Christ as “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28). Do you worship Jesus by the Word and Spirit of God as “my Lord and my God?”
