THE LORD FULFILLED SCRIPTURE-PROMISES
Jesus told his disciples he fulfilled the scriptures about God’s promised Savior of the world (Luke 24:42-48). Jesus tells us to “Search the scriptures [Old and New Testaments], for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me” (John 5:39). “For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus” being God’s Savior (Revelation 19:10).
Below are some of many scriptures written “in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms” concerning God’s promised Savior; and written in the New Testament about Jesus fulfilling God’s promises.
1a. MOSES TOLD GOD’S PEOPLE ABOUT ANOTHER LEADER FROM GOD. “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen” (Deuteronomy 18:15).
1b. GOD SAID LISTEN TO JESUS, HIS BELOVED SON. Jesus was with three of his disciples on a mountain, when Moses and Elijah appeared in a bright transfiguration before them, then a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son,[a] with whom I am well pleased; listen to him” (John 17:1-5).
2a. ISAIAH PROPHESIED ABOUT GOD’S COMING SAVIOR: “But he was pierced for our transgressions,he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:5-7; Isaiah 7:14).
2b. JOHN WAS ANOINTED BY GOD TO PROCLAIM JESUS AS THE PROMISED SAVIOR. When John, who baptized Jesus, saw him approaching, John exclaimed: “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).
3a. IN THE PSALMS, DAVID WROTE ABOUT THE CRUCIFIXION AND RESURRECTION OF THE SAVIOR. David wrote: “A company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet[b]—17 I can count all my bones—they stare and gloat over me; 18 they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots” (Psalm 22:16-18).
Regarding the Savior’s resurrection, the Psalmist wrote: But, God “will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave” (Psalm 16:10). And “The Lord said unto my Lord [after his resurrection], Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool” (Psalm 110:1–Matthew 22:44).

3b. NEW TESTAMENT EYEWITNESS-WRITERS, FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT, TESTIFIED THAT JESUS FULFILLED GOD’S PROMISES ABOUT HIS SAVIOR. The disciples of Jesus attested to his doing many miraculous things, including being crucified and resurrected for our salvation, “so that Scripture would be fulfilled” (John 19:23-30; 20:30-31). After Jesus’ resurrection, his disciples affirmed him as “My Lord and My God” (John 20:26-29).
The inspired biblical Word of God assures us, “If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:11).
