TESTIFYING OF GOD’S SAVIOR
THE PROPHET ISAIAH PROPHESIED OF GOD’S SAVIOR.
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.” (Isaiah 53:5-7).
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14). “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins… and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us).” (Matthew 1:21-23).
JOHN THE BAPTIZER REVEALED WHO THE SAVIOR IS.
The Lord’s angel said of John who was to testify of and reveal God’s promise Messianic Savior, “he [John] will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born” (Luke 1:15);
When it was time for God to reveal Jesus, John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).
John said, “I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.”
Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him. And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.” (John 1:31-34).
THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVINCES BELIEVERS THAT JESUS IS THE SAVIOR.
The Spirit-inspired Word of God says the following concerning Jesus:
The Holy Spirit convicts people of their sins and need to believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior (John 16:8-9).
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). And there is no other name under heaven than Jesus Christ whereby people must be saved (Acts 4:12). “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”– being filled with the power of the Holy Spirit (John 3:16; Romans 8:11).
