THE BIBLE SHOWS JESUS AS THE ONLY WAY TO GOD
In the Bible Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was resurrected from the dead, said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6; Luke 24:36-39). But he also said, “there shall arise false Christs, and false prophet…insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect” (Matthew 24:24). However, the inspired written Word of God is said to completely equip believers for their fight against all kinds of spiritually wickedness and deception (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Ephesians 6:10-18).
THE APOSTLES OF JESUS WARNED US ABOUT SPIRITUAL DECEPTIONS CONCERNING CHRIST:
“Now there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought [believers]” on the cross with his blood (2 Peter 2:1; Romans 5:8).
“Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons” (1 Timothy 4:1).
“For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15).
Therefore the Bible advises us: “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms….” (Ephesians 6:10-18).
TODAY, GOD-INSPIRED TEACHERS EXPOSE DECEPTIONS ABOUT JESUS CHRIST:
Dr. Erwin W Lutzer is seen as an example of a God-gift teacher of the Bible. He has been recognized by The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as a “clear expositor of the Bible.” Dr. Lutzer wrote a book based on the Bible, to make it clear that the Scriptures affirm Jesus Christ as the Divine Son of God and the only way to God the Father of heaven. Lutzer’s book is entitled Christ Among Other gods: A Defense of Christ in an Age of Tolerance.
Dr. Lutzer said he wrote this book to enlighten the Lord’s people, after attending a conference of The Parliament of World Religions. At the conference he said he learned that there is a world-wide effort to promote the idea that there are many “valid” ways to God other than Jesus. While affirming Christ as the only way to God, Lutzer exposes pseudo-Christian and some recognized traditional “Christian” organizations as not teaching that Jesus is the only way to God.
Dr. Lutzer exposes The Parliament of World Religions as an example of a pseudo-Christian religion:
- According to Dr. Lutzer, The Parliament of World Religions promotes the idea of recognizing all religions as ways to God.
- Swami Chindanansa of the Divine Life Society, representing Eastern religious ideas, told the Doctor, ”there are many effective equally valid religions.”
- As an affirmation of their own divinity, delegates at The Parliament shouted together, “I AM” —a name Almighty God uses to identify himself (Exodus 3:14; John 8:58).
- The Doctor said, he asked a pastor at a religious banquet, “do you believe Christ is the only way to God?” And “do you believed all the religions of the world are equally valid?” The response to both questions were, “of course!” But later the pastor whispered, “when I speak about Christ, I’m not talking about the Jesus of Nazareth!” The Doctor said the pastor believed in a cosmic Christ who dwells in everyone, who unifies many different religious ideas, but is not a Savior who take you to where you ought to go ( p 137-138).
Dr. Lutzer mentions some traditional Christian churches that he says do not teach that Jesus is the only way to God:
- THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ECUMENICAL MOVEMENT is seen by Lutzer as moving toward “unity” with world-wide religions. Dr. Lutzer said since Vatican II, the papacy has “been known to pray with Hindus, Buddhists, and representatives of other faiths” (p26).
- THE WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES is seen by Lutzer to be largely an ecumenical Protestant group of churches, which “stresses that only through religious dialogue amid the diversity of the world religions is it possible to see the totality of God’s revelation” (p26).
- NEW AGE/NEW SPRITUALITY MOVEMENT. Dr. Lutzer said people of this worldwide movement see themselves as gods; and see Jesus as being “Christ among other gods.” They “stripped Jesus of his Deity.” They are “tolerant of…hedonistic pleasures” that the Bible calls sin. And this movement is said to be attracting many people away from Jesus Christ, the only true God (Romans 1:18-28; john 17:3).
- According to Dr. Lutzer, a Pew Research Center survey reported that among religious of Americans, “seven-in-ten say many religions can lead to eternal life;” and “more than half of members of evangelical Protestant churches (57%)” share this view.
THE LORD WANTS ALL PEOPLE TO BELIEVE THAT HE IS THE ONLY WAY TO GOD.
The biblical Word of God tells us: “He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent” and believe in his Son Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:9). “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16). The Bible expands on this gospel truth in various ways:
- “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
- Jesus said to unbelievers, “you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn to God” as the full gospel-Bible teaches (Luke 13:3; John 5:39).
- “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in[a] Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
- Speaking to believers, Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27).
Do you believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the only way to God?
