GOD’S INVOLVEMENT IN EARTHLY AFFAIRS
Americans are evidently very concerned about the outcome of the presidential election. However, believers in the inspired biblical Word of God are assured that the God of heaven is involved and in control of everything, including earthly political affairs (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Daniel 4:27). And some believe God will control the outcome of voting in the 2024 political race for His purpose.
However, in your voting, your vote may one of those which God uses in deciding the outcome of the race.
While God is concerned about political affairs, we should remember He is more concerned about affairs that have to do our eternal souls. For “it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 7:27). But, “now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
The Bible urges believers today: “that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man[a] Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time” ( 1 Timothy 2:1-6).
Before God created the world he had a plan to save people from sin who believed in his Son Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:4). God planned this before Adam and Eve were deceived by the devil to disbelieve and disobey God (Genesis 3). God’s plan of salvation also provided for limitation and prevention of the devil destroying all of mankind—especially those, like Job, who believe and obey God (John 3:16; Job).

SCRIPTURES ABOUT GOD’S INVOLVEMENT IN POLITICAL AND EARTHLY AFFAIRS
“There is no authority except that which God has established” (Romans 13:1).
“The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all” (Psalm 47:8;103:19).
“The holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes….” Daniel 4:17).
“Bless the LORD, all His angels mighty in strength who carry out His word,
who hearken to the voice of His command” (Psalm 103:20).
BIBLE-EXAMPLES OF GOD’S INVOLVEMENT IN HUMAN AFFAIRS
MOSES was chosen by God to lead His people from bondage to a promised land. The Lord said to Moses, “the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt” (Exodus 3:1-10).
DANIEL, who prayed often to God, was given revelations by God of His verdict to establish earthly kingdoms to set the stage for ushering in the heavenly kingdom of the Son of God. History attests to God doing what He told Daniel.
- The Lord God established Babylon and use them as an instrument in disciplining His people Israel for their repeated disobedience.
- Subsequently, Persia was established by God kingdom. He used King Cyrus to free His people Israel from Babylonian captivity.
- Then God made Greece a worldly power. After Alexander the great conquered the world, he made Greek almost a universal language. (This would help to facilitate the spreading of the good news about the kingdom of the Son of God.)
- Finally, God allowed Rome to become a world-power. Rome built many roads, which aided in facilitation of the gospel of God’s Son, Jesus Christ.
HOW OBEDIENT BELIEVERS MIGHT AFFECT GOD’S INVOLVEMENTS
Pope Francis was asked by CBS News about how he would advise Catholics voters concerning the presidential election. The Pope said: “both Harris and Trump are against Life—the one who throws away the migrants; the one who kills children—who is the lesser of two evils—I don’t know.” But knowing the Holy Bible, the Pope knows God tells believers: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall [a]direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Franklin Graham, world-renown Christian evangelist, was asked by Fox News what he thought about the 2024 election. The evangelist, said he is an “Independent” (not a Republican or Democrat). But “there is just so much division; it’s not just division but it’s almost a hatred that I have not seen before in politics–I think the only hope for this nation is God—and to turn to Him and ask Him for His wisdom—that’s my prayer”
The Bible says: “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).The Bible also tells us that even “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective…(James 5:16-17).
DANIEL. Because Daniel fervently prayed to God, He revealed the earthly kingdoms that would occur prior to God setting up the kingdom of God on earth (Daniel 10:12; Daniel 7).
NEHEMIAH. This believer prayed that God restore the kingdom of Israel; God influenced King Cyrus of Persia to help the people of Israel to rebuild what was destroyed.
JESUS. Before the Lord went back to heaven he prayed to the Father, “I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message (John 17:20).
DISCIPLES. On the day of Pentecost the disciples were praying when they were filled the Holy Spirit promised by Jesus (Act 1:8; Acts 2). After they received the Holy Spirit and were preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, several thousand unbelievers were converted by the Spirit to believers (Acts 2:36-41.
The Word of God tells believers: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 4:6-7).
