GOD DELIVERS BELIEVERS FROM EVIL
The Lord God of the Bible said: “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other” (Isaiah 45:22). The Lord Jesus Christ taught his disciples to pray to God the Father to “deliver us from evil” (Matthew 6:13). The Bible shows that God delivers people completely from evil who believe and obey him (Hebrews 7:25).
NOAH. God saw Noah as a righteous man. But he told Noah he was going to destroy the world by water, because of the great evil of people on earth. He instructed Noah to build an Ark that would save him and his family, and many animals from destruction of the flood God would bring on the earth. Noah obeyed God; and the Lord saved him and his family, along with the animals that was on the ark (Genesis 6:8-22; 8:13-18).
ISRAEL. The people of Israel were descendants of Abraham, which descendants God promised to bless as a result of Abraham believing and obeying God (Genesis 12:1-7. Because there was a famine in their land, the people of Israel went to Egypt where God had provided food them. But because they grew in number a new Pharaoh of Egypt felt threaten; and he made them his slaves. (Exodus 1). However, God chose and prepared Moses who was born an Israelite to lead them out of slavery. (Exodus 2; 3).
Through Moses, the Lord brought plagues on Egypt. After the last plague, when all the first born of Egypt died, the Pharaoh relented and freed the Lord’s people from bondage (Exodus 12:29-30). But when the Egyptians had a change of heart and pursued them, God opened the Red Sea for them to cross; but closed it and drowned the Egyptians when they tried to follow people of Israel through the Sea (Exodus 14). As they traveled through the desert wilderness on the other side of the Sea, God provided for their needs and defeated their enemies. And by Moses’ successor Joshua, God brought the people of Israel to the land he had promised Abraham, their forefather. (Joshua 24).
APOSTLES. The Lord God delivered Peter and other apostles from prison, after they were punished for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord sent angels to free them from prison and persecutions (Acts 5:17-42; 12:1-11).
At another time, the Lord caused an earthquake to free Paul and Silas from their persecutors, who beat and imprison them for proclaiming the gospel (Acts 16:16-34).
As a result of the Lord’s disciples continuing to proclaiming the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ, many souls were saved from sins and the devil who had taken them captive (2 Timothy 2:26).
REPENTANT SINNERS. The biblical Word of God tells all how to be delivered form the evils of this world: “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). And “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever repents and believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life in heaven (John 3:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 26:20).
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you [believers]. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
