HOW VALUABLE YOU ARE TO GOD?
Some people may see themselves as insignificant in comparison to many others people. And they may even view themselves as small in their own eyes. But the Bible reveals our real value through God’s eyes, who made all things (John 1:1-4, 14; John 3:16).
OUR ESSENTIAL VALUE WAS DETERMINED BY GOD WHEN HE MADE US.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” (Genesis 1:26-27; Colossians 1:16).
THE SON OF GOD PAID A GREAT PRICE TO REDEEM US TO GOD AFTER MANKIND WAS SEPARATED FROM GOD BECAUSE OF SIN.
“The man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.[g] 21 And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them [to cover their sense of guilt and nakedness before God].
22 Then the Lord God said, (W)“Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand (X)and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” 23 therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden (Y)to work the ground from which he was taken. 24 He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the (Z)cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life” (Genesis 3:20-24).
The biblical word of God says: “your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear” (Isaiah 59:2). “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”—This includes all descendants of Adam and Eve (Romans 3:23).
Even though Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden of Eden by disobeying him, God still had a plan to redeem mankind: For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord:
God loved and valued mankind enough to give his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die to atone for us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8). “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
The Son of God was in heaven in the form of God: but Jesus Christ took the earthly form of man to die for our sins (Philippians 2:6-8). After being mocked, beaten, and laden with a heavy cross he was nailed to the cross. He suffered in agony hanging on the cross “from the sixth hour until the ninth hour.” Dying separated from God because of our sins, Jesus cried out: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:15-46).
Our good shepherd Jesus Christ would have come to die for you if you were his only lost sheep (Luke 15:3-7; John 10:11): Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13). But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8).
YOU ARE OF PRICELESS INSTRUMENTAL VALUE TO GOD.
After you repented and accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord, the Holy Spirit came to live in you (John 14:15-17). He helps you to glorify Christ (John 16:13-14). He uses you to witness the gospel and saving grace of Jesus Christ to the world (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 1:8). He gives you gifts and abilities to serve other for him (1 Corinthians 12:4-11).
You are reward for being a true loving and caring instrument of God. “People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). Using your gifts and talents according to the Spirit of love makes you a more productive and recognized instrument of God.
While the world may judge you according to your relative possessions and positions of worldly prominence; God judges and rewards us according to what we do with a heart of true love for Christ and others (2 Corinthians 5:10). This contrast of recognition may be seen in the following instances:
- On one occasion, Jesus said the following about many who appear prominent but do not love him and others as the Bible says (Luke 10:27): Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:22-23).
- However, the Lord will say this about others who are hardly noticed by the world (Matthew 25:34-40): ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
The Spirit works in you to conform you to the likeness of our Lord and Savior (Romans 8:29).
Your self-worth should not be based on human comparisons and feelings alone; but on the biblical word of God, which tells you your essential and instrumental value to your Savior and Lord God.
