GOD’S WORD IS STILL RELEVANT?
Some people question whether the Bible is still relevant today. Many say the Bible is archaic and out of line with things of the world today. Yet, the Biblical Word of God says: The Lord’s Word “is eternal; It stands firm” (Psalm 119:89). For the Lord “is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
WHY SOME BELIEVE THE BIBLE IS NO LONGER RELEVANT
Following are some reasons people may give for believing the Bible is not relevant today.
The internet has broadened many people’s religious thinking beyond the Bible. Shared ideas from diverse cultures around the world cause people to have different views of religion and moral standards.
Science has lessened or eliminated people’s need for dependence on the Bible for answers to their problems. With the help of technological advances many feel less or no need for help from the God of the Bible.

The Bible predicted that “knowledge shall increase” but primarily for God’s purpose of revealing and proclaiming Jesus Christ, the savior of the world (Daniel 12:4; Acts 1:8). And God allows technological advances showing his kindness that “is meant to lead you to repentance” and to believing in the God of the Bible (Romans 2:4).
The Bible predicted, however, the time would come when many people would turn away from the truth of God’s Word. They would seek to satisfy their lusts and ungodly passions, and even follow leaders who tell them what they want to hear (2 Timothy 4:3-4; 1 John 2:16).
THE BIBLE SHOWS THAT IT IS AS RELEVANT TODAY AS IT WAS YESTERDAY FOR MEETING PEOPLE’S NEEDS.
When one reads or studies the Bible carefully, It provides evidence-based performances of the Son of God for believing the Bible is most relevant for meeting people’s physical and spiritual needs, yesterday and today. For God’s Son, “ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
The Bible declares, essentially through deeds of God’s Son Jesus Christ, that it is the inspired eternal Word of God that equip believers to deal with all of life’s situations (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Matthew 4:4). And it affirms that he is the same yesterday, today and forever. The Lord Jesus Christ demonstrated before many eyewitnesses in the Bible that he has divine power which no other person has to deal effectively with life and all of its issues. They saw and reported on his power over the physical and spiritual worlds. The following are only some of the miraculous things they saw him do and told us about “that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:30-31); “and have it abundantly” (John 10:10):
- Jesus calmed stormy seas (Mark 4:35-31).
- He fed over 5,000 people with two fish and five small loaves of bread (Matthew 14;13-21).
- He healed all manner illnesses and those oppressed by the devil (Matthew 4:24; Acts 10:38).
- He manifested authority over powers of the devil and spirit world—(Matthew 8:28-33).
- He raised people from the dead (John 11:20-45).
- He rose from the dead, after dying on a cross to save the world from sin (Luke 24:44-48).
- He forgave people for their sins (John 8:11)
- He changes many repentant sinners to obedient saints (Acts 2:38-47).
- He gave believers the Holy Spirit to help them cope with and overcome troubles of today’s problematic world John 14:15-17).
- Having demonstrated he has power over the physical and spiritual worlds, the Lord God almighty promised to end all troubles and wars, and “make all things new” (Matthew 28:18; Revelation 21:5).

Scholars, professionals and people of power today do amazing jobs with the gifts God has given them; but they have shown they are unable to do many things that Jesus is able to do. Our best scientists today are unable to control hurricanes, tornados and destructions of global climate changes. Our best doctors are still searching for cures for cancer, Alzheimer and other diseases. Our best mental health workers have not been able to change the ungodly thoughts and behaviors that come from people’s hearts. No one other than Jesus or his disciples, who believed in him, has been able to raise anyone form the dead. Even many religious leader do not truly worship or believe and teach that Jesus Christ is the only divine Son of God (2 Timothy 3:5). Peter and other disciples who witnessed the works of the Lord Jesus Christ said, we ought to believe and obey “God rather than human beings” (Luke 24:44-48; Acts 5:29).
When you “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6). And still today, the God of the Bible is working all things together for good for those who love him; and who believe “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (Romans 8:28; John 3:16).
