JESUS FREES FROM SIN AND CONDEMNATION
The Bible says, if the Son of God sets you free, you are free indeed (John 8:36). And there is no condemnation for those whose sins are covered by the atoning blood of Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Romans 8:1). But, the devil continuously accuses God’s people of sin (Revelation 12:10).
However, trusting in the truth of God’s Word about the atoning work of Jesus Christ will set the believer free from all condemnation.
THE BIBLICAL WORD OF GOD PROVIDES EXAMPLES OF JESUS FREEING PEOPLE FROM SIN AND CONDEMNATION:
A WOMAN CAUGHT IN ADULTERY WAS FREED. Scribes and Pharisees, brought a woman to Jesus whom they claimed was caught in adultery. They asked Jesus if she should be stoned to death as the Mosaic Law prescribed? Jesus stooped down and began to write on the ground. He looked up and said, let the one who is without sin cast the first stone. When he looked up again, everyone had left. Jesus then ask the woman, does anyone condemn you? She said, no one, sir. The Lord said , neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more (John8:1-11).
PAUL WHO PERSECUTED THE LORD’S PEOPLE WAS FREED. Before he met Jesus, Paul said he was the worst of all sinners, because he persecuted the people of God (1 Timothy 1:15-16; 1 Corinthians 15:9). Nevertheless, after he met Jesus, he repented of his sins and believed in the Lord; and the Lord forgave him and freed him from the condemnation of all his sins.
Paul used his freedom from sin and the devil to labor diligently for the Lord. As an apostle of the Lord, Paul used his liberty to proclaim the gospel of salvation and freedom to Jews and Gentiles (1 Timothy 1:12-16).
THE BIBLE TELLS PEOPLE TODAY HOW THEY CAN BE FREED FROM SIN AND CONDEMNATION.
In the Bible Jesus said, “every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men”–except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:31). (Jesus comment about blasphemy was made to some Pharisees who said, concerning the power of Jesus, by “the prince of demons, does this man drive out demons” (Matthew 12:24).
The Word of God says, “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). “If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36)
God our Savior, wants “everyone to come to repentance” and “wants all people(G) to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (2 Peter 3:9; 1 Timothy 2:4). The Bible tells people to be saved and set free from sin: “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts2:38).
THE BIBLE TELLS US HOW JESUS HELPS BELIEVERS REMAIN FREE FROM SIN AND CONDEMNATION.
After repenting and accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we need the power of the Holy Spirit whom God gives us as our helper (John 14:25-17). When we earnestly pray, the Holy Spirit strengthen and helps us—despite our weaknesses and areas of weakness (Hebrews 12:1). The Spirit enables us to obey the Lord commands (Acts 1:8). The Spirit guides us into all truth about Jesus Christ who saves and frees us from sin and condemnation (John 16:13: John 3:16-18).
