JESUS IS THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE?
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life,” when he brought Lazarus back to life, after his being dead and stinking for four days; many people witnessed Jesus do this (John 11:1-44). When Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and rose again after three days; many people saw what happened (John 19; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8). Some believed he died and rose again, some did not believe (Luke 16:31). However, Jesus said: “blessed are those who have not seen yet have believed” (John 20:24-29).
THE THINKING OF SOME WHO DO NOT BELIEVE
- Jesus said, even if one rose from the dead, some would not believe (Luke 16:31).
- Even today, some who profess to have higher wisdom, say they do not believe in miracles. But the Bible says they have become fools, and their hearts have darken because they deny the eternal and divine nature of God which are clearly seen in the world created by God (Romans 1:18-22). And they do not believe the unparalleled miracles that Jesus did demonstrating he was empowered by God (John 15:24; Acts 10:38).
- Though the Scripture have spoken of a coming resurrection, some do not believe because they recognize, for centuries, all things have continued as they were (Matthew 24:37-39; 2 Peter 3:4).
- In Luke 12:16-21, Jesus gives an example of a person who disregards the resurrection and coming judgment of mankind (Hebrews 9:27): A man worked many years, accumulated a great deal of savings, and was ready to take it easy—eat, drink and be merry. However, he was not prepared to meet God when he was called to died. Jesus asked, what does it profit a person to gain the world and forget about their soul that has to appear before God as their judge after their resurrection (Mark 8:36)?
- Jesus said, Light has come into the world, but some people loves darkness instead of Light because their deeds are evil (John 3:19; John 8:12).
REASONING OF SOME WHO BELIEVE
- There were many eyewitnesses to Jesus raising people from the dead, and performing all kinds of miracles which no other person did (John 15:24; Matthew 4:23).
- Jesus rose from the dead; and was he seen by many who saw him die and alive again (1 Corinthians 15:3-8).
- No one other than the Lord, or someone empowered by him, is known to raise anyone from the dead. And no one but Jesus has risen from the dead to die no more (Roman 6:9).
- After his resurrection, Jesus spoke to his disciples concerning his crucifixion and resurrection: “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms”… “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.” (Luke 24:44-48).
- Jesus said: Blessed are those who believe without seeing me” (John 20:29).
If you have repented and accepted Jesus Christ as “the resurrection and the life,” and as “the Light” of your life, he says you are now his light to the world (Matthew 4:14). As his shining light, he wants you to let your light shine to world, as you share the good news to others that the Lord Jesus Christ saves and resurrects whoever repents and believes he is “the resurrection and the life” (Mark 16:15-16).
When Jesus was ascending to heaven after his resurrection, he promised his believers, he would “come back” for them (Acts 1:11). For every repentant believer, Our Lord and Savior has a new and heavenly body for us to live with him in heaven forever (2 Corinthians 5:1; John 14:3).
