DELIVERED FROM EVIL BY JESUS’ BLOOD 2
This paragraph repeats the introduction to part one of my writing on DELIVERED FROM EVIL BY JESUS BLOOD: Believing in the blood of Jesus Christ is shown in the Bible to have power to deliver from the evil and the deceptive forces the Bible warn us about (Ephesians 6:10-12; Colossians 2:15 ). Warren Smith, now a born-again believer, wrote a book, The Light That Was Dark, to tell us how he was delivered from deceptive forces of the devil by believing in the power of the blood of Jesus Christ of the Bible. We may learn from his efforts to alert us and others about deceptive people used by the devil, who themselves may be deceived by the devil. And to understand that the blood of Jesus Christ has power to deliver and keep us from all evil when we seek the Lord with all our heart. (Matthew 6:13; Romans 8:38).
In part one, I discuss how Warren was led step by step into evil–by a psychic, gurus, a course in metaphysics, A COURSE IN MIRACLES, and spiritual guides. In part two, I continue to comment on the stages of Warren’s journey deeper into darkness; and how he was delivered by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Warren and a friend, Joy, were being guided deeper into darkness when Joy began to be attacked by evil forces. Once when Joy experienced a spiritual attack, she and Warren went to their spiritual instructor Frank for his help. Joy told the teacher that she felt a client from her massage business had been trying to possess her body when she was almost asleep. Frank gathered them into a circle, held hands, and told them to “visualize sending light” to the client. However, Warren wondered out loud if something else could be done.
Frank’s wife, Trudy, who was present, responded unexpectedly: “Put on the full armor of God and stand fast against the wiles of the devil.” She advised them to read Ephesians 6:10 in the Bible. [The Bible shows the devil tempting Jesus, Matthew 4:1-11]. She insisted, “the devil is real.” Frank had taught them to believe there is no devil, and that they were “perfect, sinless, guiltless Sons of God” (p 107). Probably not wanting to contradict his wife at this time, Frank did not contest what she said.
When Warren and Joy got home, they read Ephesians 6:10-12:
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
They saw that what Trudy said was in the Bible. They felt Trudy was probably holding onto something from her past Christian church involvement. Nevertheless, it took further attacks to get them to study the Bible seriously.
DISCOVERING THE POWER OF THE BLOOD OF JESUS OF THE BIBLE.
Spiritual attacks on Warren’ s friend, Joy, were continuing when Warren discover an apparently out of place Christian book in the metaphysical section of a book store. The book, THE BEAUTIFUL SIDE OF EVIL, was written by Johanna Michaelsen. As he began to read the book, a disturbed man, looking as if he was possessed, entered the store and tried to stop him from reading or buying the book. Warren said when he showed the man he would not be intimidated, the man left. As Warren continued to read the book, he saw that Johanna had been heavily into metaphysics and had been attacked by evil spirits, until she learned about Jesus from friends. Warren was willing to try anything to free Joy from her attacker.
Later, Warren tried what he had learned from Johanna’s book on Joy. When Joy was in a state of being attacked by the harassing spirit, Warren commanded the spirit “ in the name of Jesus …be gone,” and he “claimed” the protection of the blood of Jesus.” The spirit was gone.
Another spirit that began attacking Joy, stop coming after they continued to call on Jesus. Warren came to realize there is something powerful about the name of Jesus who died on the cross (pp 119-121 They recognized they were learning more about evil spirits; but more importantly they were learning more about the power of the blood of Jesus Christ. Because of their experience in calling on Jesus, they decided to read the Bible as well as A Course In Miracle.
COMPARING THE BIBLE AND THE COURSE AND FOUND THE REAL JESUS.
Warren and Joy tried to share what they had experienced and learned about power in the name Jesus, with the members of their Course In Miracles group. But they (with the exception of Trudy) turned against them. Warren and Joy soon left the group. They were beginning to see the real light, the real Jesus, the real God.
The Bible tells us that righteousness and wickedness have nothing in common–light has no fellowship with darkness (2 Corinthians 6:14).
Warren and Joy began to pray to the God of Jesus. They read the Bible and prayed to God for understanding. Warren decided to prayed to God for his approval to marry Joy. Then he waited for what believed was God’s approval before deciding to marry her.
Joy was the first to see clearly that A Course In Miracles was not from God, and that the Jesus of the Course was not the real Jesus (p 143). Warren, still having questions, isolated himself for almost a week studying and comparing the Course and the Bible. Through his studying, he was thoroughly convinced that Joy was right. He saw clearly that the gospel of the Bible was “the real gospel.” He also saw that “the Course and the New Age were Antichrist” (p 145). Seeing that they now believed in the real Jesus Christ of the Bible, the only begotten Son of God, the only way to God the Father, the Light of the world–they recognized “we are Christians” (p 148).
WARREN WARNS THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH
Warren warns the Christian community that he sees many false teachers, like the ones who deceived him, working inside and outside the Church to deceive and attract people away from the real Jesus. But Warren learned that the Bible tells us we overcome such evil forces by believing in the blood of the Lamb of God; and being filled and guided by the real Holy Spirit with the biblical Word of God (Revelation 12:11; Acts 2:38).
