GOD ARRANGES FOR MEETING JESUS
God the Father makes arrangements to see his Son, Jesus Christ. The Father arranged for people to see Jesus when he was in the world. And The Father is still making arrangement for people with an open heart to meet his Son, so that they may get to know him, and have an intimate and loving relationship with God. (Jeremiah 29:13; Matthew 16:16-17).
A SAMARITAN WOMAN MEETS JESUS
The Father arranged for a Samaritan woman to meet his Son at a well. When Jesus met her, he asked her if she would draw water so he could drink. She recognized that Jesus was a Jew; and knew that Jews did not associate with Samaritans. However, Jesus told her if she knew who he [really] was, she would have asked him for a drink; and he would have given her living water that springs up to eternal life–[The Holy Spirit, John 7:38-39].
Jesus went on to tell her details about her disappointing past life with several husbands and companions. She was convinced that Jesus was a prophet and the Messiah that was promised in the Scripture. She was so impressed by Jesus, she went and told other people that she had seen the promised Messianic Savior. They came out to see Jesus. (John 4:5-30).
DISCIPLES FELLOWSHIP WITH JESUS
The heavenly Father arranged for disciples to have close interactions with Jesus. Hence, they saw Jesus perform great miracles and demonstrate his love as the Son of God. They saw him being crucified; and they saw him after he was raised from the dead. God inspired several of the disciples who were Jesus’ eyewitnesses, to tell about what they had seen Jesus do, so that others might believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (John 20:30-31).
And it pleased the Father that by believing what his disciples saw and told about Jesus Christ people should come to know him, be saved and develop a loving relationship with God—Even as many believed and accepted Jesus, became “children of God” (1 John 3:1).
GOD ARRANGES FOR US TO MEET JESUS
When I was just a boy, God used my Christ-like grandmother to teach me about Jesus. She told me about her “good little boy, Johnny” who saw the angels coming when he was dying. She often sang and praised the Lord. I learned to appreciate the Bible by her having me read stories to her from a colorful picture-book with Bible stories. Many times I was awaken in the middle of the night by her praying for members of the family. I saw her being kind and sharing what God had given her with our neighbors.
By her taking me to church, I heard the gospel preached. I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior when I was ten years old– I heard a sermon about Jesus telling a man named Nicodemus you must be born again to enter the kingdom of God.
The Bible says, “In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). Someone may have told you the good news of Jesus Christ. There may be Christ-like people in your life. If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, the Holy Spirit, given by the Lord, has convinced you of your need to repent and believe in Jesus as your Savior and Lord (John 14:15-17; 16:13-15).
Our Having met Christ, God uses us to introduce others to our Savior and Lord (Matthew 28:19-20). These and other things are arranged by our heavenly Father, so that we may see Jesus Chris–God’s only begotten Son, who came into the world and died for our sins that we might have an eternal loving relationship with God (John 3:16).
