FOCUSING ON JESUS CHRIST
The Word of God reveals that Jesus Christ is our creator, savior, life-sustainer, resurrector and judge. We should keep our focus on him. However, many are hindered from focusing on Jesus Christ as their Lord because of the ungodly attractions of this world (1 John 2:16). But those of us who are followers of Jesus Christ should focus primarily on glorifying him, and not on things of this world and self-elevation (John 3:16; Colossians 3:2).
OUR CREATOR AND PROMISED REDEEMER
God made all things through his Son Jesus Christ (John 1:1-3, 14; Hebrews 1:2: Genesis 1). “For by him all things created, that are in heaven and earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by and for him” (Colossians 1:16).
The first people created, Adam and Eve, were separated from God for sinning in disobeying him. Separated from God they immediately died spiritually (1 Timothy 5:6; Ephesians 2:1); and later thy died physically (Hebrews 9:27). But God promised to redeem them. He promise that the “offspring” of the woman” would appear to redeem them to God from the curse of sin and death . (Genesis 3; Romans 5:12-15).)
OUR SAVIOR AND LORD
The biblical Word of God says: All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). And the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten divine Son. And whoever repents and believes in Jesus Christ should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16; Acts 2:38).
The Word [Jesus] became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-3; 14).
“[Jesus] was in the form of God…but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross,” for our salvation(Philippians 2:6-8; John 3:16).
OUR SUSTAINER OF All THINGS
“For in him [Jesus] all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him” (Colossians 1:16)
The Son of God, who created all things, and purged our sins by his atoning blood on the cross, upholds and sustains all things by the word of his power (Hebrews 1:3). Without him we can do nothing (John 5:51)–For we live, move and have our being in his power Acts 17:38).
After being crucified and resurrected, Jesus ascended into heaven, and is sitting at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest, intercessor and helper (Hebrews 4:14-16).
OUR RESURRECTOR AND RIGHTEOUS JUDGE
“God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 9-11),
God the Father has committed all judgment unto his Son Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18; John 5:22). God’s Word says: “we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
The Bible reveals that at the time of our resurrection and judgment, Christ will separate those who chose to correctly focus on him from those who chose not to. He will separate them like a shepherd sheep from goats (Matthew 25:31-46). He will say to those who obeyed God’s Word and kept their focus on him: “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world” (Matthew 25:34). But he will say to those who failed to obey God’s Word: “Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthews 25:41). Then they will go away to eternal punishment–BUT THE RIGHTEOUS [WHO FOCUS ON JESUS] TO ETERNAL LIFE.” (Matthew 25:31-46).
