OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE
Adam, the first man God created, disobeyed God. His disobedience caused suffering and death for himself and the world Genesis 3:17-25). It is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” But, “The last Adam–[Jesus Christ, who obeyed God]–became a life-giving spirit.” (1 Corinthians 15:45). “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”(John 3:16). God’s Holy Scriptures tell us to “fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrew 12:2).
JESUS IS OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE OF OBEDIENCE
Jesus said to the Father, “Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God” (Hebrews 10:7).
By taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Jesus always did what pleased the Father (John 8:29).
Jesus “was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin” (Hebrews 4:15).
Even when our Lord was faced with enduring the agony of dying on the cross for the sins of the world he said: “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” Luke 22:42).
Jesus, our perfect example of love and obedience, said, we should live “by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthews 4:4).
JESUS IS OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE OF SPIRITUAL LIGHT
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). For those who follow the Lord, his word is a lamp unto their feet, a light unto their path (Psalm 119:105).
However, the Lord said: although light has come into the world, but some people love darkness instead of light because their deeds are evil (John 3:19). But he tells us who walk by his light, “You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew5:14-16).
And he instructs us who has come to his perfect light, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” (Mark16:15-16). Yet, God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance by believing in his Son Jesus Christ, who is the perfect light of the world (2 Peter 3:9; John 3:16).
The Lord have given us the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit to proclaim the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ to all the world (1 Corinthians 3:16; Acts 1:8).
JESUS IS OUR PERFECT EXAMPLE OF LOVE AND SERVING OTHERS
Jesus “got up from the [Passover] meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
12When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.” (John 13:4-17).
Our Master said, “The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted” (Matthew 23:11-12).
Our Savior and Lord, our perfect example, said, “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind”’ (Luke 10:27). And, Love one another. As I have loved you” (John 13:34). The Lord gave us his Holy Spirit to enable us to be imitators of Christ, who is our perfect example. (Ephesians 5:1-2).
