DO WE REALLY NEED JESUS BLOOD?
There are people who do not believe, for various reasons that the blood of Jesus Chris is necessary for salvation. But the Bibles says, without the shedding of Jesus’ blood there is no remission or forgiveness of sin (Hebrews 9:22). The Bible tells us why.
The biblical Word of God says: all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; and the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 3:23; 6:23). Still some question the need for the shed blood of Jesus Christ–Why?
SOME SAY SIN DOES NOT REALLY EXIST
Some religious leaders teach that we are sinless because “God created man in his own image” (Genesis 1:27). They say: God is love and sinless; and the truth is there is really no sin; and believing in sin is “an error in thinking.”
If you read further in Genesis, chapter 3, you see that mankind was separated from God when Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying the Lord in the Garden of Eden. And God sacrificed an animal and used the skin of the slain animal to cover their feelings of nakedness resulting from sinning. God separated them from himself because of their sin of disobedience.
OTHERS THINK THEIR GOOD DEEDS MAKES THEM RIGHTEOUS
Some others do not deny the existence of sin; but they expressed the belief that their good deeds may outweigh their bad ones. And their goodness makes them acceptable with God.
But the Bible says: “All of our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). “There is no one righteous, not even one” (Romans 3:10)
However, “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever repent and believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16; Acts 2:38).
“God save[s] you by his grace when you believe {in Jesus]. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” (Ephesians 2:8-9).
STILL OTHERS BELIEVE OLD TESTAMENT SACRIFICES STILL ATONE FOR SIN
There are people living in the time of the New Testament who still believe that sacrificing the blood of animals, as was done in the Old Testament, can atone for their sins. But the Bible shows that Jesus Christ establish a New Testament covenant with God for the forgive of mankind’s sins when he shed his blood by dying on the cross for our sins (Mark 14:24).
The Bible reveals that blood sacrifices of the Old Testament only ceremonially covered sins, but do not cleanse one’s conscience, or change one’s heart’s inclination to sin. Those annual sacrifices reminded one of their sins, and pointed to the need for a better sacrifice—a perfect sacrifice which was found only in the blood of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 9:11-28).
THE BLOOD OF JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY OF SALVATION
Christ came from heaven and died on a cross as the sinless “lamb of God” to atone for the sins of whoever repents and believes in him (Isaiah 53:5-7; John 1:29). His sacrifice cleanse our consciences of guilt forever. Jesus, the Son of God, said: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
