KEEPING YOUR FOCUS ON JESUS CHRIST
The Word of God reveals that Jesus Christ is our creator, savior, life-sustainer and judge. We should keep our focus on him. However, many are hindered from focusing on Jesus Christ as their Lord because of the sinful attractions of this world (1 John 2:16). But those of us who are followers of Jesus Christ should focus primarily on glorifying him, and not on things of this world and self-elevation (John 3:16; Colossians 3:2).
FOCUS ON JESUS CHRIST AS CREATOR
God made all things through his Son Jesus Christ (John 1:1-3; Hebrews 1:2: Genesis 1). “For by him all things created, that are in heaven and earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by and for him” (Colossians 1:16).
FOCUS ON JESUS AS SAVIOR AND LORD
The biblical Word of God says, all have sinned an come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). And the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten divine Son. And whoever repents and believes in Jesus Christ should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16; Philippians 2:6-8; Acts 2:38).
FOCUS ON JESUS AS SUSTAINER OF All THINGS
The Lord Jesus Christ, who created all things, and purged our sins by his atoning blood on the cross, upholds and sustains all things by the word of his power (Hebrews 1:3). Without him we can do nothing–For we live, move and have our being in his power (John 5:51; Acts 17:38).
FOCUS ON JESUS OUR RIGHTEOUS JUDGE
God the Father has committed all judgment unto his Son Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18; John 5:22). God’s Word says: “we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).
At the time of judgment, Christ will separate his followers from those who chose not to obey his Word (Matthew 25:31-46). He will say to those who obeyed God’s Word and kept their focus on him: “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world” (Matthew 25:34). But he will say to those who failed to obey God’s Word: “Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthews 25:41). Then they will go away to eternal punishment–But the righteous to eternal life (Matthew 25:46).
Every knee shall bow, of those in heaven and earth, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father (Romans 14:11; Philippians 2:10-11).
