VIEWING CORONAVIRUS AND LIFE LIKE JESUS
We may have different views of the coronavirus and life’s issues. We may have a limited human perspective, or we may also have God perspective.
THE BIBLE GIVES DIFFERENT VIEWS OF SICKNESS, DEATH AND LIFE
Mary and Martha who were close friends of Jesus, sent for the Lord to come to heal their brother Lazarus who was dying. Jesus arrived on the scene four days later, after Lazarus had died. Mary and Martha was disappointed because Jesus did not come in time to heal their brother. But Jesus did a greater miracle than heal Lazarus. The Lord resurrected Lazarus from the dead revealing as he said: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” ( John 11:1-26).
EMPATHIZING WITH LIFE’S PAIN AND SUFFERING AS JESUS DOES
Some may be viewing the coronavirus from seeing their loved ones in pain; or from experiencing the pain of having lost someone close to them. And some may be viewing the virus from personal suffering. Jesus wept when he saw the pain of Mary, Martha and others in mourning. (John 11:35). He tells us we should be kindly affectionate one to another; and pray for one another (Romans 12:10; 1 Timothy 2:1). Nevertheless, he knows it is crucial for us to know he has power over sickness, death and everything concerning us (Matthew 28: 18-20).
PERCEIVING AND DEALING WITH EVERYTHING THROUGH JESUS
Viewing Jesus should affect our ultimate perspective of the coronavirus and all things we experience in life. The Word of God says, “all things work together for good for those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). God calls all who receive his Son Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior to be children of God (John 3:16; John 1:12). As loving children of God, whether we live or die we belong to the Lord (Romans 14:8). For children of God, “to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). For all of us who receive Jesus as our Savior and Lord, heaven is our eternal home (John 3:16).
