We Are Blessed Beyond Abraham
The Lord God blesses us for believing in Jesus Christ beyond the blessings of Old testament believers in God like Abraham (Matthew 11:11).
God confirmed his promise of blessings to Abraham, when he demonstrated willingness to sacrifice his beloved son Isaac as God asked him to do. Seeing his willingness to obey, God sent an angel to keep him from slaying his son (Genesis 22:1-18). Previously, The Lord God asked Abraham to leave his country and go into a foreign land, and God would give him another land and bless all people through him (Genesis 12:1-3). Abraham believed and obeyed the Lord. And God blessed him with a rich land called Canaan; and promised to bless all people through his seed. Now, God asks us to believe in his only begotten Son Jesus Christ, the offspring of Abraham, who died for the world; and he will richly bless us in this world and give us eternal life in heaven with him (John 3:16; Mark 10:29-30).
GOD DESIRES ALL PEOPLE TO BE BLESSED BY BELIEVING IN JESUS
Some of us have repented of our old way of life and believed in Jesus Christ and are being abundantly blessed, while awaiting our eternal heavenly reward (John 10:10). God’s invitation to be blessed for believing in his Son is extended to all who have not yet believed in him. The Lord instructs believers to go into all the world to reach nonbelievers with the good news of being blessed through repenting and believing in Jesus Christ (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38). The biblical book of Acts tells us of many people being blessed for believing in Jesus, through acts of his disciples, starting on the day of Pentecost when they were filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38-41).
GOD INVITES JEWS AND NONJEWS TO BELIEVE IN JESUS
There were a significant number of Jews who were convinced that Jesus was God’s promised Messianic descendant of Abraham. And several Jews were inspired by God to write the holy scriptures that we might believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and be saved (John 20:31; 2 Timothy 3:16-17). However, there evidently were many more Jews who did not believe, including a number of Rabbis. (John 1:11).
The Rabbi Paul was among the religious leaders and Jews who were not persuaded that Jesus was the promised Messianic offspring of Abraham . But Paul was converted to a believer when Jesus appeared to him in a blinding vision and revealed himself to Paul. The Lord then used Paul to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ crucified to Jews and Non-Jews throughout much of the then known world, where many believed (Acts 9:1-31). Jesus said, blessed are they who believe and have not seen him (John 20:29). Many of us believe the gospel of Jesus Christ who have not seen the Lord. We have the privilege and responsibility of taking the good news to others that they too may believe and be blessed.
GOD TELLS BELIEVERS TO WORK AS ONE FOR CHRIST
The Lord tells his believers, through his chosen apostle Paul to Jews and Gentiles: “In Christ Jesus you are all children of God, through faith …There is neither Jew nor Gentile… for you all are one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then are you Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:26-29NIV). Our Lord and Savior calls us as his believers and followers to work together as one body in one Spirit, to take the good news of salvation through God’s Messianic Jesus Christ/Yeshua to the world (Ephesians 4:4; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 1:8).
God has inspired a Messianic movement that provides opportunity for Jewish and non-Jewish believers to cooperate in spreading the gospel. This movement is said to have begun in the 1960s and 1970s, and is continuing. The Messianic movement is reported to be a “combination of Christianity—most importantly the Christian belief that Jesus is the Messiah—with element of Judaism and Jewish traditions.” The movement is said to be growing. There is a list of Messianic organizations, such as “Jews For Jesus,” whom I support by prayer and financial contribution. You might identify those who specifically teach that Jesus is the Messianic Savior of the world. Pray for them. Support them. Work with them. Messianic Judaism – Wikipedia
God has given no other name than Jesus/Yeshua to mankind, whereby we all must be saved and receive the special blessings of the heavenly Father (Acts 4:12; John 14:6). As Abraham was blessed for believing God; whoever believes in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God is abundantly blessed by God (John 3:16; Acts 2:38).
