WHY JESUS’ BLOOD?
The Bibles says, without the shedding of Jesus’ blood there is no remission or forgiveness of sin (Hebrews 9:22). The biblical Word of God also says: all have sinned, and the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord(Romans 3:23; 6:23). But some question the need for the shed blood of Jesus Christ–Why?
DOES SIN REALLY EXIST?
Some religious leaders teach that we are sinless because “God created man in his own image” (Genesis 1:27). They say: God is love, and the truth is there is no sin–believing in sin is an error in one’s thinking.
If you read further in Genesis you see that mankind was separated from God when Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying the Lord in the Garden of Eden. And God used the skin of a slain animal to cover their feelings of nakedness resulting from their consciences of guilt after they sinned. They were separated from God because of their sin. (Gen. chapter 3).
ONE’S GOOD DEEDS MAY OUTWEIGH THEIR BAD DEEDS?
Some others do not deny the existence of sin; but they expressed the belief that their good deeds may outweigh their bad ones.
Nevertheless, the Bible says: “All of our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6). “There is no one righteous, not even one” (Romans 3:10).“ For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom.3:23)–And “the wages of sin is death…(Rom. 6:23).
Although the wages of sin is death, the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). God does not want anyone to perish, but that everyone should repent and believe in his Son Jesus Christ–For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever repent and believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life. (2 peter 3:9; John 3:16).
OTHER SACRIFICES MAY ATONE FOR SIN?
There are people living in the time of the New Testament who still believe that sacrificing the blood of animals, as was done in the Old Testament, can atone for their sins
Jesus Christ establish a New Testament covenant with God for the forgive of mankind’s sins when he shed his blood and dying on the cross for our sins (Mark 14:24; John 14:6; John 3:16). The Bible reveals that blood sacrifices of the Old Testament only ceremonially covered sins, but did not cleanse one’s conscience or change their heart’s inclination to sin. These annual sacrifices reminded one of their sins, and pointed to the need for a better sacrifice—a perfect sacrifice which was found only in the blood of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 9:11-28).
Christ came and died on a cross as the sinless “lamb of God” who atones for the sins of whoever repents and believes in him (Isaiah 53:5; John1:29). His sacrifice cleanse our consciences of guilt forever. He is the only way, and the truth, and the life leading to God the Father (John 3:16; John 14:6).
