DO IT GOD’S WAY
God tells us, with love, in the Bible: “Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled, but fornicators and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrew 13:4). Doing sex or anything other than God’s way causes a world of problems. We should do it God loving way.
PROBLEMS FROM NOT DOING IT GOD’S WAY
Adam and Eve, the man and woman whom God created with innocence in the Garden of Eden, disobeyed God, and caused themselves a world of problems. They were separated from God. (Genesis 3).
King David, whom God had called “a man after my own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22), chose on an occasion to do his own thing, and suffered much for it. He cause himself guilt and problems “too heavy to bear” (Psalm 38:4). David experienced the guilt of adultery and murder. He committed adultery with a beautiful woman named Bathsheba, while her husband was in the army. And after he found Bathsheba pregnant with his child, he had her husband killed to cover up his adultery. For his sins, God allowed David to have grievous problems in his family all his life. Yet, God, in his love, forgave David when he confessed an repented of his sins (2 Samuel 12:1-24; Psalm 51:4).
God will forgive us all our sins if we confess and repent, because Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, shed his blood and died on a cross for our sins (John 3:16; Acts 2:38; 1 John 1:8-9). However, we may avoid many problems and headaches by doing what God tells us.
GOD’S WAY AVOIDS MANY PROBLEMS
The following are some of the problems that may be avoided by doing things God way.
- Experiencing feelings of guilt and pain like David.
- Dealing with a deep sense of separation from God.
- Deciding to admit or cover up wrongs.
- How to determine an issue like abortion:
- Is abortion killing a child or a woman’s unquestionable right to choose in any circumstance?
- Being morally correct.
- Being political correct.
God tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:14, if we earnestly pray and are willing to do what he says, he will solve our problems. And he will enable us to do things his way by the power of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16; Acts 1:8). How willing are you to do it God’s way?
