Recognizing the Unequaled Greatness of Jesus: The Bible reveals that Jesus performed unequaled acts of love and miraculous power. The Scripture shows that he demonstrated the greatest love of all, in dying for all mankind while we were yet sinner and enemies of God (John 15:13; Romans 8:8). And eyewitnesses of Scripture tell us he did greater works of miracles than anyone (John 15:24; John 20:30-31). Many of us who believe in Jesus’ greatness have accepted him as our Lord and Savior.
However, the Bible tells us there are many people who do not recognize the unequaled greatness of Jesus for various reasons (Luke 14:16-20). Yet because of the Lord’s great love and desire for all to recognize him and share eternal life with him, he instructs us who believe to reach out in love with the good news of his love and greatness so they might recognize him as their Lord and Savior (John 3:16; Luke 14:23).
Several reasons many have not recognized the unparalleled greatness of Jesus
- There are those who want to be like the Lord God–our creator (Genesis 3:1-7; Colossians 1:16).
- Others, like some of the Pharisees and Pilate, love positions of honor, power and recognition more than they love the Lord (Matthew 23:6; Mark 15:1-15; John 12: 43).
- In Matthew 8:21, we are given an example of people who cared more for their family than following Jesus.
- Then there are others, like a rich young man who met Jesus, who love money and material possessions more than they love Jesus (Matthew 19:16-22).
- There also those who prefer darkness to the light of Jesus because their deeds are evil (John 3:19; Romans 1:18-24).
- Jesus said the people of this New Testament generation who fail to recognize him and his incomparable greatness are without excuse, when you consider that many people of the Old Testament highly regarded men like the prophet Jonah and King Solomon for far lesser works (Matthew 12:41-42).
- Yet, because of God’s love for all, he instructs those of us who believe in the greatness of his Son to reach out with the gospel to those who have not accepted our Lord as their Savior.
We can pray for and tell others our reasons for believing in Jesus of the Bible and his unparalleled greatness, so that they might recognize his greatness and accept him as their Lord and Savior.
- Tell them that although Jesus was divine in nature he left his throne in heaven to come into this world to die for our sins (Philippians 2:6-8).
- With Jesus’ agreement, God the Father miraculously conceived Jesus Christ in human form to die as an atonement for the sins of mankind (Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:18; Isaiah 53:5; John 1:29 ).
- To demonstrate to the world that God had sent him, Jesus not only fulfilled prophesies, but performed miracles and did things which no one else had done (John 15:24; John 20:30-31).
- The Bible provide eyewitness reports of Jesus doing many unparalleled miracles– including healing all manner of diseases, casting out demons, raising people from the dead, and many other extraordinary deeds ((John 15:24; John 20:30-31).
- As prophesied, Jesus was crucified for our iniquities, resurrected from the dead, and ascended into heaven while promising he would come again for those who believe in him (John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:4; Acts 1:11).
- Tell them that because of your believing in Jesus, God has forgiven you for your confessed sins and given you the Holy Spirit to help you live in an obedient and loving relationship with God now and forever (John 3:16, 1 John 1:8-9; John 14:26).
Now or Later everyone will recognize the unequaled greatness of Jesus.
Now is the day of salvation when people have an opportunity to know Jesus Christ and be saved. And now is the time God has given us to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.(2 Corinthians 6:2; John 9:4).
However, God has appointed a day of judgment—a time of reward for believes and of regret for unbelievers. Everyone in heaven and on earth and under the earth will bow their knees in recognition of the consummate greatness of our Lord Jesus Christ to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:10-11).
