We are involved in a great spiritual war. And the Word of God tells us how to win.
Many people anxiously anticipate an epic “Armageddon” battle in the future. However, the Word of God sounds a warning to the people of God that we are now in a great spiritual war. The trumpeting Word alerts us us to our currently being attacked by powerful invisible enemy forces of darkness.
The Word of God, our military instruction manual, informs us about our invisible spiritual enemies and how we should fight to win the spiritual war against them.
Ephesians 6:12 describes our invisible combatants: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (NIV).
Verses 13-18 advise us how we should be fully prepared to fight our spiritual enemies: We are instructed to have the protection of the saving blood or our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ—Arm ourselves with righteousness and truth—Be ready with the Word of God and the gospel of peace—Have faith that can shield you against enemy atatacks—And be sure to pray in the Spirit on all occasions.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5, stresses the fact that though we live in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For our weapons of warfare are not weapons of the world. But we have the power of the Spirit of God to demolish every stronghold on minds. And the ability to defeat all false reasoning against the gospel of Jesus Christ and the scriptural Word of God.
Furthermore, the Word of God informs us that we are fighting increasingly deceptive enemies in the spiritual war in, these perilous last days.
The Apostle Paul informs us that in the last days, perilous time will exist (2 Timothy 3:1-5). According to this information, we are living in the last days and faced with a great spiritual battle.
We are told that In the latter times, some shall depart from the true gospel, “and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons” (1 Timothy 4:1). And, the devil will confront the people of God with others “having a form of godliness but denying its power” (2 Tim. 3:5).
The Apostle Peter confirms what Paul wrote to Timothy about the perilous last days. Peter says there will be false teachers among you who will secretly introduce false and destructive doctrines. He says they will even deny the the Lord Jesus Christ who bought them with his sacrificial blood.(2 Peter 2:1).
Nevertheless, the Word of God equips us to war against our deceptive spiritual enemies of the last days (Hebrews 4:12).
Today, when we look through the spiritual-darkness-vision instrument of God’s Word, we can discern the powers of darkness at war with the people of God. We can see these evil and deceptive forces energetically working through people like those of the antichrist New Age/Spirituality movement.
People like those of the New Age/Spirituality movement do not adhere to the Word of God as it is written. New Agers do not follow nor teach what the Bible says about Jesus Christ. They deny what the Bible says about Jesus being the only begotten Son of God, who came in the flesh, shed his blood and died for the sins of those who believe in his atoning sacrifice (1 John 4:2-3, 9-10; John 3:16-18). They are some of the many modern day antichrist teachers and their adherents spoken of by the apostle John in his espistles.
Moreover, those of the New Age/Spirituality movement do not believe and teach, as the Scripture says, that Jesus is the only way to God the Father and heaven (John 14:6). They teach that there are other ways than Jesus.
Furthermore, New Agers deny the existence of sin, as the Bible teaches (Romans 1:18-32; Galatians 5:19-20; 2 Timothy 3:1-5). By misleading people, they cause many to sin. In causing them to sin without repenting, they can cause them to be eternally separated from God. (Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23; John 8:21).
Led by Jesus Christ through his Word, and enpowered the Holy Spirit, we will win the great spiritual war.
You should acknowledge that God’s people are now in a great spiritual war. Following our Lord though his Word, and enpowered by the Holy Spirit, we are assured of winning the spiritual war. (1 Timothy 3:16-17; Acts 1:8; Luke 10:17-20).
Along the way of life are many foes. That daily war against my soul;
But constant victory, my Savior gives to me, as I press on to the goal.
On the winning side, I’m on the winning side, I’m on the winning side with Jesus;
Though hot may be the fray, My soul can boldly say, I’m on the winning side with Jesus.
I’m on the Winning Side—Lyrics by Charles W. Naylor
