The Holy Spirit helps us to witness effectively for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit qualifies us as witnesses for Jesus Christ, after the Spirit has led us to believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
The Holy Spirit prepares us to witness productively for the Lord. The Spirit gives us opportunities to witness for Christ. And he tells us who to witness to and how we should witness to them about Jesus Christ.
The Spirit allows you to experience the Lord in ways that permits you to witness about him successfully
- The disciples were Jesus’ close companions. The saw him do miracles which no other man had done. The Holy Spirit empowered them to witness and preach the gospel of Christ to the then known world (Acts).
- A woman, whom Jesus forgave many sins, glorified him by wetting us feet with her tears, kissing them, and drying them with her hair (Luke 7:36-50).
- Jesus healed a man born blind, who told unbelievers, “If this man were not of God he could do nothing” (John 9:1-7).
- The Samaritan woman who met Jesus at the well, went and told other that He was the “Christ, the Son of God” (John 4:29).
- Jesus forgave a man for his sins and healed him of palsy; and was glorified by those who witnessed it (Mark 2:-12).
- If you have met Jesus and been forgiven for your sins by his death on the cross; had him take care of you and your problems each day; the Holy Spirit has put you in a position to be a personal witness of the Lord.
The Spirit enables you to live in the image of Jesus causing your holy life to witness to his living in you
- God the Father has ordained that believers in the Lord should be conformed to the image of His Son, Jesus Christ (Romans 8:29).
- The Bible says, be holy because He is holy (1 Peter1:16;Ephesians 4:24-32).
- The Word of God also tells us to glorify the Lord in our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:20).
- You can witness for and glorify the Lord, in living daily by every Word of God (Matthew 4:4).
The Holy Spirit teaches us how to use the Word of God to witness for Jesus
- The Spirit teaches us to recognize that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, so that the man of God may be “thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3;16-17).
- The Scriptures instructs us to study the Word of God to have a right understanding (2 Timothy 2:15).
- You should be prepared to give everyone who wants to know, your reason for believing in Jesus Christ; but do it with love and respect (1 Peter 3:15).
The Spirt shows you how your acts of love and service as Jesus’ disciple can make you his witness
- The Spirit used the “good works and alms deeds” of “a certain disciple named Tabitha” in a way that “many believed in the Lord” (Acts 9:36-42).
- The Word of God says, let your light so shine before people that they may see your good works, and glorify God (Matthew 5:16).
- The Holy Spirit may use problems in people’s lives to give you opportunities to help them, and demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, in as much as you have shown love to the least of my brothers and sisters, you have shown it to me (Matthew 25:40).
- The Holy Spirit prompts you about where you should go, and what you should do and say as a witness for the Lord.
In my work as a counselor who believe in Jesus, the Holy Spirit taught me that by genuinely helping people they may become more receptive to the Lord. As a counselor in prison and drug rehabilitation programs, I volunteered my own time to assist Christian ministries involved with these programs. I experienced that in genuinely helping people with their personal, family and Criminal Justice System problems, some became interested in hearing about the Lord they associated me with—especially those with Christian influences in their backgrounds.” More than a few have told me they were reared in a Christian family and went to church. However, they said they chose the “fast lane” and “criminal” life styes. But now they felt God had sent them to prison and rehab programs to get help.”– They said they believed God sent me and other like me to help them “turn my life around” and “save my life.”
The Holy Spirit teaches us that we do not need to perform miracles or be a professional to be a helper and effective witness for the Lord
- The Holy Spirit may prompt you to visit someone who is a shut-in or bedridden and bring that person a token of love. You can listen to, and pray in your heart for someone with a problem. If the Spirit indicates the person is open to, or desires you to, you may read him/her stories and Psalms; talk about the love and miracles of the Lord; tell of the sacrifice of Jesus to save those who believe in him from our sins.
- The Spirit may put it in your mind to call someome whom you know is lonely, to say, hello, and let that person know you were thinking about him/her, and wanted to know how he/she was doing. If they want to know more about you, perhaps due to your concern for them, you can tell them about your relationship with Jesus.
- He may impress you to pray for and support others who have effective ministries for the Lord
The Holy Spirit makes us effective witnesses for Jesus Christ
- As we pray and stay in close fellowship with the Lord, the Holy Spirit will make us success in witnessing for the Lord (Matthews 6:33; Psalm 37:4).
- The Holy Spirit will teach and enable us to be effective witness for Jesus Christ.
- He will tell us to whom, when, where and how we should witness.
- However, in all that we do, “whether in word or deed” we should be led by the Spirit in doing all for the glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Colossians 3:17).
