A Journey from New Age Darkness to the Light of the Cross–1
Warren Smith, a book writer, shared his experience on you-tube about his having been deceived by the antichrist New Age movement. And He also talks about his coming to the light by seeing the cross of Jesus Christ. In his book,The Light that was Dark, and in his you-tube appearance, he warns us about false teachers and false “Christs.” Furthermore, he instructs us on how to recognize and avoid these deceivers.
A Friend Introduced Warren to a Psychic
At the onset of his journey from darkness to light, Warren said he was introduced to a psychic. He said the psychic told him things about himself that only he knew. During this encounter, he experienced a “ball of light” appearing over his head. He realized there were powers that he did not know, but wanted to know. He was told by the psychic that if he wanted to know them and seek their help, it was necessary for him to ask them. He asked.
Met an Indian Guru
Later, while in a bookstore he felt led to buy a book entitled Journey Toward the Heart by an Indian guru. He later met the guru. The guru taught him about meditation—being mindless and empty– a key to “enlightenment.” Among his teachings, were a “mixture of the all the great religious teachers—Buddha, Mohammed, Jesus, Lao-Tau, Confucius.” He taught that “God is everywhere and in everyone and in everything” p 33). Warren was led to believe that reaching enlightenment is to “enter deeply into the mystery of God and oneness while also celebrating life with outrageous abandon (p 35). Warren was present during a “guided exercise” in group sex at the Guru meeting Center. Participants were told to select a “same sex” or “opposite sex” partner. Then they were led into sexual activities. Feeling it was wrong, Warren said he did not participate.
Moved on to Another Psychic
After Warren felt he had learned all he could from the Guru, he moved on to another psychic. She taught him to repeat affirmations such as “I am love” and “My mind is part of the divine mind.” He was starting to live in the light of his “own divine being that was God and also me” (p 52).
Led further into Spiritual Darkness by New Age–A Course In Miracle
Through a series of “coincidences” Warren came to the Sacramento Holistic Health Institute, a metaphysical program, where he found out about A Course in Miracles. The program taught him massaging, yoga exercises, meditation and holistic health courses. These were courses to prepare you to be “channels of love, light and healing.” He later used these courses, including his metaphysic beliefs, in his work as a Social Worker with the developmental disabled ( p 61).
A friend at the institute told him about a metaphysic book. When he read the book, the author, Gerald Jampolsky, highly recommended reading another book, A Course in Miracles. However, Warren said he didn’t expect to see Christian terminology like “salvation, atonement, Holy Spirit and Son of God.” But as he read on through the Course he saw it was “really an attempt to re-explain the Bible in its teachings” (p 60)
Became Friends with a New Age Channeler of Spirits
Another friend introduced Warren to a channeler, one through whom “God,” the Source, chooses to reveal himself and give spiritual directions. The “Source” helps you to “evolve” spiritually. The Source recommended A Course in Miracles for Warren’s spiritual growth. Through another series of coincidences, he became involved in a class on A Course in Miracles. He was taught that the Course was given to rid erroneous notions about the Bible. The Course claimed to teach him the “real gospel” –-“We are all part of God and God a part of us”- -“There is no sin, devil or death”—“We are all sinless, guiltless Sons of God” (p90).
Warren saw the Bible in a Dream
Seeing an announcement for teacher’s training in metaphysic at Inner Light Consciousness Center, he enrolled. Just before he was about to complete the training, a teacher aske students to share any dream they may have had the previous night. Warren said he shared a dream. In the dream, he was walking along the trail of a canyon when the earth split. After losing his footing he climbed back onto the trail. Then he ran into a small group who were listening to someone reading from “a book” as they traveled together. The teacher warned that going off the spiritual path can be dangerous. The students agreed that the book was the “good book” (the Bible) (p 95).
Was this dream a sign that God, who knows every heart, had seen that Warren was honestly seeking God? Was it an indication that God was about to fulfill a promise that whoever search for Him with all their heart would find Him (Jeremiah 29:13-14)? You can see how God worked and used the Bible to bring Warren Smith to the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ in part two of A Journey from New Age Darkness to the Light of the Cross.
